caravan Trip Preparation
Going on a caravan trip is exciting for the whole family but if you are not properly prepared, it could quickly turn into a nightmare. As well as caravan insurance, there are many things to remember when packing for your trip. Here is an easy check list of the top twenty items you will need on your vacation:
1. Number Plate
You must bring your caravan's number plate if it'd not permanently attached! You risk a fine for forgetting this.
2. Waste Water Storage
This is a must if your campsite is not equipped with the necessary drainage.
3. Submersible Water Pump
Bring this if your caravan requires a pump to deliver fresh water.
4. Leisure Battery
Leisure batteries are always important to bring so you can have long outputs of electricity at your disposal.
5. Electric Hook-Up Lead
This will allow you to hook your caravan up to a campsite's electricity supply.
6. Spare Tyre and Stand
You don't want the vacation to end early because of a punctured tyre.
7. Mirror Extensions
If you can't see behind your vehicle you will need to buy mirror extensions for safety purposes.
8. Hitchlock
A safety must – protects your property, yourself and other road users!
9. Wheel Lock
Anti-theft and safety kit, ensures your caravan will be rolling nowhere whilst attached.
10. Caravan Brace
This makes sure your caravan stays steady when moving ‘round corners.
11. Maintenance Kit
Make sure you have all the proper fluids and tools needed for light work in case of a small breakdown.
12. Bug Spray
Mosquitoes and other woodland insects can be quite the irritant – bring this to subdue and repel the beasts.
13. First Aid
Any camping trip opens the opportunity for injuries, so make sure you're prepared if you or your children get hurt.
14. Your Family's Medical Prescriptions
Not the best reason to go home – just remember to bring them with you.
15. Awning
You will want to be comfortable outside with your caravan, so remember the awning.
16. Fire Blanket
Oil fires cannot be put out with water, but must be put out by smothering with a fire blanket.
17. Fire Extinguisher
Essential in a mobile and stationary home.
18. Smoke Alarm
Just like in a house, you must keep your caravan protected in case of a fire.
19. SPF Sunscreen
Sunlight can cause second degree burns and skin cancer so never leave the house without it.
20. Stabiliser
If you own an older caravan, it is likely yours does not include one, so remember to pack a stabiliser.
